sorry but every time i think about chiyo's childhood and the bullying, i eventually get to thinking about how she never talks about it. she completely omits the bullying. and i'm trying to imagine a situation in which she'd admit to being bullied and generally talk about that period in her life? bc she's so against it. she doesn't want to think about it or have others pity her for it. the adults in her life did that enough at the time.

but it follows her. chiyo isn't someone who lets go of things, even if she lets a lot slide off her back. if you betray her trust, she'll eventually forgive you bc she should have known better. people always act in their own best interest, right? they abandon each other when it's too tough bc their wellbeing and survival are at risk. that's just how it goes. your betrayal will be forgiven, but it'll never be forgotten and will become fuel for her cynicism.

so let's say you never betray her trust, that you become a person chiyo relies on and cares for more than anything. will she reveal what she went through as a kid? not easily. it becomes not a matter of trust but a matter of shame after a while. how can she admit to you that she allowed someone to dull her light? that a childhood experience followed her into adulthood? in her mind, it all sounds so silly even if it isn't.

it's the same deal with her anxiety attacks -- she doesn't admit they happen and actively hides them from her loved ones. to her, it's an utterly irrational reaction that she doesn't want to trouble others with. never mind that she would never make someone else feel bad for having an attack.

i didn't mean to ramble this much, but :' ) this is something i've been thinking about bc chiyo is tight-lipped about her negative feelings to begin with, but the root of them? i genuinely don't know how anyone would get her to talk about them.

since chiyo has history with kojirou, her ex, that impacted her greatly, i would love to kinda explore that with someone, be it in a romantic plot or between friends. chiyo encounters ko bc of her work ( he, too, is a mangaka ), and it's clear that there's something unresolved between them at least on her side. someone should force her to talk about it : )

using this post as a visual aid bc even though chiyo doesn't easily admit why she doesn't ask for help, this still captures the essence of what i mean when i say i want her to meet and be pushed by someone who notices a lot more than she'd like them to. i want them to notice her habits and call her out, be it in a bit of an admonishing tone or a comforting one. crack that shell wide open!!

big pain if anyone ever actually wrote this with me, but: your muse developing feelings for chiyo and working up to confessing to her, and she looks so sad. she stops them and her eyes are a lil shiny bc they're her best friend, she loves them, but she doesn't love them the way they want her to. and she's so scared of losing them -- they can see it, feel it when she grabs their hand. she's scared of ruining everything if they finish their confession bc it's happened before. she doesn't want to lose them bc her dumb heart can't return their feelings. maybe there's an ending where they get together, or maybe they work through the awkwardness and they're closer friends for it, but either way <3 pain <3

ngl, i might end up rewriting chiyo's jjk verse, but for now, i'd love to see her frustrated bc her sorcerer colleagues and friends are all risking their lives while she has to just let them. she can only watch from the sidelines and provide support when she's able to as a manager, and she hates it a little

she would have been in school around the time of all the mess with geto was going on, i think about a year or two behind them? so there's a chance for pre-established connections as same-year classmates and seniors and whatnot

in general, be it with canon characters or oc's, i'd really love someone to get chiyo to talk about shiori. she meant a lot to her -- chiyo doesn't casually date, nor does she date anyone that she didn't first befriend over a long period of time. and the thing is!! chiyo never actually got to admit her feelings to shiori. so there's a lot of unresolved feelings concerning her, and i just want someone to get chiyo to talk about it.

shiori was her universe's gwen, so i do think it'd be interesting to see chiyo interact with any version of her. they're different people, but i think chiyo would be wary bc gwen dies in certain universes and!! she's not in a position to handle that emotionally rn

gimme all the mentorships pls and thanks <3 the more i write her in this universe, i do think she'd get along with just about anyone tbh -- she just might disagree with them on occasion, but that's normal and healthy and makes for some fun threads!

tbh i think chiyo would default to learning about herbs and how to utilize them for healing and poisons and whatnot bc her physical ability would be a fat 0, but that just means your muse could attempt to teach her how to fight and laugh when she falls on her butt :’ ) and maybe there’s a lil physical tension too bc sparring means getting close and sometimes pinning a person’s arm behind their back and taunting them : ) but yeah, if you laugh at her she’ll get mad and competitive and that’s always a fun dynamic! gimme sparring partners for her!

chiyo struggles with her faith a lil bit in this verse -- she believes deities exists, but she struggles to believe that they really care about the mortals who worship them. she's respectful towards them and whatnot, but when she prays, it's like going through the motion rather than believing she's heard. i wanna explore this with a muse who is pretty devout, especially bc i'd eventually like to touch on the favor that eilistraee shows chiyo

since she naturally ends up assuming the role of " tav " and thus the leader of sorts for the group, i'd love to explore the discomfort that actually brings. just because she can't stop herself from helping others in their time of need doesn't mean she's having a good time doing it asdf

grief was a fickle drug. something to be taken periodically, never overdosed on, always ever used in the company of others. sitting out in the balcony, six months after the destruction of her grandmother's home, seren still has yet to find an answer for how to move on from the grief of losing a man she considered her closest confidante and the woman who raised her. her eyes close, and they only open when they hear chiyo's dulcet tones paired with the sound of the sliding balcony door. by yourself, chiyo says at the end, and seren wonders if that is her way of saying, why didn't you call for me?

she knows that it's wrong to grieve on her own, especially when chiyo also lost someone who was integral in shedding light on uncertain conditions, but she didn't think anyone would want to deal with her in this state. it is not self-depricating, or a need for attention, but instead something that has been engrained in her since birth. you are a lot to handle, her medical records would tell her, but we need things from you, those in her life would imply.

" she manages to say after a moment, twitching her nose. her eyes are red, as if she's been crying, and the pot with the lilies in them, the ones she planned to put on josephine's grave when they finished blooming, appears to be in good spirits. look, it says, it doesn't matter how broken she is, she'll always take care of others. " i wasn't... thinking. did xavier call you? he probably heard me crying from the balcony. " she'd given the passcode to her apartment to chiyo ages ago, a trust unspoken between the two women. alas, seren sighs, wiping her face with the backs of her hands. it's okay to be soft in front of her, her body tells her, for it doesn't immediately have the reaction to get up and run and pretend to be okay.

" i just miss them. a lot. i don't know h-how it happened, but i was making something to eat, and i remembered that it was caleb who taught me how to make it. i smelled it, and it was like i was back in their kitchen, and he was on shore leave, and we had decided to surprise grandma with some food. it's like every time i turn around, i keep expecting to get a call from him saying he'll be in, and we should all visit grandma. instead, it's debt collectors trying to get me to pay her bills outstanding, or the service, because i was on as caleb's next-of-kin. i just... i don't know what to do. i don't know how to move on. there are bigger problems in the world than me missing family, but ... i just don't feel like we're getting anywhere fast enough. "

thinking about it, was there anything stopping kusuo from re-petrifying akechi over and over until he figured things out?

it never says he has a limit on this ability like that, so if he had been extremely determined to not let akechi find out, he could've kept trying different future outcomes over and over

but would a person petrified experience hunger and thirst while in that state? if so, this would only be possible a day or two without serious negative effects. but from what we've seen, im fairly certain everything about the individual is frozen like that, so I doubt so

of course there was people and noticing akechi's disappearance, and akechi himself nothing the missed time. but if he got the timeline right, then akechi would've never been even entered the room in this instance, as seen by the failed timeline where hes closer with his friends group. thus its a moot point, and making the idea of keeping him frozen longer plausible

considering how the other two espers came to know about his powers, it really makes you wonder why he gave in so easily. kusuo had almost told aiura because he believed its be inevitable, but when he realized his aura was too large to be seen up close, he forfeited, only having to confess in order to save chiyo's life.

toritsuka had found out completely on his own, and by the time he approached saiki, there would have been too many memories to erase them all with his memory alteration, as its stated he can do a minute at a time.

and, interestingly, in the manga there's a whole day between saiki receiving toritsukas letter and him arriving, while in the anime its the same day. saiki is even able to complete his psychometry on the letter. it actually makes more sense in the anime, though, as surely he'd have noticed his glove was missing before a whole day had passed?

anyways, point stands that family is the only people kusuo has completely willingly told about his powers were family members. and yet he gave in so easily to akechi.

something that's striking me as odd is when akechi revealed himself to be someone from kusuo's past, and someone who suspected him of having powers...he did nothing.

as seen on aren's first day, he could've easily had akechi transfer out or just make him stop attending.

sure it might've been suspicious, but a combo of forcing him to transfer out and some memory alteration making him forget kusuo was at PK, that he attended PK, or that he was transferred out strangely, any may have possibly worked.

or better yet, petrify and perform the time leap stunts much earlier, before akechi had such concrete evidence. akechi likely would've responded readily to an invitation over to kusuo's house, and he could've attempted to deal with the problem then.

sure its possible he didn't think about that, but with how covered everyone of kusuo's bases have been throughout the series, I heavily heavily doubt it. and besides, I think there's more to it.

one thing kusuo mentions being happy to have fixed at the end of akechi's time travel arc is erasing the fact his younger self told akechi about his powers.

he regrets this truly as a teenager, but his younger self was a lot more complacent about telling him, up until akechi spilled the secret himself in order to hope for kusuo's protection, but even kusuo acknowledges its normal for people to reach out to those who they know can help

he smiles like this after his confused face fades, and tells akechi about his powers. his younger self didn't have much of a reason to keep his powers from someone he viewed as a friend, and even showed MUCH less emotional repression imo.

but there was one striking reason.

look at how the smile on his face fades each time he recalls what his mother said. he actively wanted to show them his powers, not just akechi either.

his older self acknowledges that akechi felt like a friend to him, which is kusuo speak for he felt they were pretty close friends, considering that the main cast is still mostly classmate or aquintence level at the end of the series according to him.

considering how easily kusuo gives in to telling akechi after his admittedly extensive process trying to prevent this outcome...I'd say, honestly, kusuo still feels the same way about akechi.

he certainly tolerates akechi referring to him by his first name, and even though aiura does as well, im not convinced she'd listen if he even told her off. (tbh, his whole friend group has issues with listening to him, and his mom forcing him on outings isn't helping. but thats a rant for another time)

the day akechi invites himself over, its done merely to hang out, and kusuo is slightly surprised by this.

of course, even akechi has to cheat his way into staying, but kusuo is like that to everyone.

kusuo isn't used to people coming over just to hang out, as whenever the rest of his friends bug him, they need something most of the time. and when the two of them get into betting on the horse races over cake, as frustrated as kusuo gets, id say he enjoys himself. one of the last panels says as much

I hit the image limit, but near the end of chapter 266 his eyes have the sparkle effect they do when he's actually feeling emotions. its so sweet. and during the end of the showdown arc, kusuo repeats to kuusuke the the same phrase akechi said to him after taking the power remover. "I can still be your playmate"

overall, coupled with how easily kusuo gave in to telling about his powers, without even a single death threat to keep akechi silent...yeah, he definitely thinks of akechi as a good, maybe even close friend. even if he doesn't believe or admit it to himself, its true.
